Possessing technical skills and communication skills has always allowed me to become a valuable asset in the companies I’ve worked with.
As a technical specialist at Southern California Edison, I managed many database applications and reports that I built from the ground up. I was proactive in setting up meetings and interviewing users to ensure compliance application forms and reports I built fit their needs. I automated injury reporting distributed to executives throughout the company. Report creation was cut from 6 hours to 2 hours. Not only did I program applications and reports, but I created training manuals for the users of the systems. I assisted in one on one support if further help was needed.
I also assumed a project manager role by managing an ASP.NET Oil Spill System Upgrade. I interviewed subject matter specialists and documented their requirements. These requirements were then communicated to the programming development team to ensure they understood what needed to be completed. I was the link between the users and the programmers to ensure procedures ran smoothly.
With all the hard work, I eventually started my own business named Drakenology Inc. and became a consultant for the same department I worked for previously. I also got another database consulting contract for the same company within a different department.
I just completed a one month contract job with ARINC Inc. in El Segundo, CA as a programmer/analyst to create a HR Workforce intelligence database application that was able to generate useful human resource work planning reports. It allowed the Vice President, Staff Vice President, Directors, HR Managers, and Lead Recruiters to identify their staffing needs for the future.
Because I did a good job for the ARINC Inc. El Segundo office, the senior manager recommended me to the San Diego, CA office. I am currently finishing up a Microsoft Access 2007 HR reporting application for ARINC Inc. in San Diego, CA. They were creating all their reports in Excel. However it was a manual process and therefore took too long to generate. So I migrated everything into Access 2007 so that their reporting is automated allowing the department to be more efficient in report generation. I’ve been able to accomplish all the goals set out for the application while working remotely from home. Application demonstrations, requirement gathering, and training have been completed successfully over the phone.
Also I'm doing work as a consultant upgrading an existing ASP application to ASP.NET. The application is used by companies to apply to become a minority certified enterprise (MBE). This work is being done for the Southern California Minority Business Development Council Inc. I'm working as a project manager. My responsibilities are to gather and document requirements with the subject matter specialist, communicate the requirements to my programmers, and ensure I resolve any problems during the process.
Well, I hope I can get a chance to discuss any job opportunities you may have for me. Location is not an issue as long as there is a possibility for a permanent position with your company or a consultant position for my own business. Sincerely,
